Mike Bell & The Belltones started in Kouvola, Finland as a solo project of Miikka Siira. In 2008 Mike Bell & The BellTones became a real band and relocated to Helsinki, Finland. They play 50’s style rockabilly & rock’n’roll and have become one of the leading bands of the European rockabilly scene. They have done dozens of live shows at the biggest rock’n’roll clubs and festivals all over Europe, USA, Russia & Japan. They have also toured and recorded with an American rockabilly legend, Huelyn Duvall. Mike Bell & The Belltones came known to the Finnish audience when they appeared in the television with their full live show aired by YLE (the Finnish national broadcasting company).
They have released 3 albums: ‘Scream & Holler’ (2010) and ‘Payback’ (2012), which were picked by Helsingin Sanomat, the leading newspaper in Finland, as one of the best records of the year. Their last album ’The Beat that Can’t Be Beat’ (2016) was recorded by Deke Dickerson at Ecco-Fonic studio in Los Angeles and Lightning Recorders studio in Berlin. The sessions were recorded live using vintage analogue equipment. The band has also made a handful of EP’s & singles and they have appeared on international compilations from labels such as the Grammy winning Bear Family Records.
The bare bone of Mike Bell & The Belltones is in the early rock’n’roll, rockabilly and country music – just like the sounds of Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins and Johnny Burnette. The songs are filled with raw energy, great melodies and that hard driving BEAT, BEAT, BEAT!
